Arapaoanui 3E Restoration Project


Habitat BPM Ltd recently completed a multi faceted restoration project at Arapaoanui 3E. The project was funded by grants from Nga Whenua Rahui, Arapaoanui 3E Trust and the Hawke’s Bay Regional Council. The project involved; erecting a goat-proof fence, removing feral goats, weed control, designing and implementing a planting plan, wetland development, monitoring, funding applications and conducting an Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) Assessment.

East Cape ETS Assessments

We have assessed more than 60,000 hectares of land across 40 different properties on the East Cape. These projects were commissioned by Te Puni Kokiri (Ministry of Maori Development) and conducted in conjuction with Kaitiaki Land Services. Areas of post-1989 indigenous regeneration and exotic forestry were assessed and mapped for Emissions Trading Sscheme applications.     
Environmental Impact of Brodifacoum Use  

Habitat BPM Ltd was contracted by the Hawke's Bay Regional Council to manage a research project on  investigating the long term effects of brodifacoum use as a pesticide for possum control. This project was a collaboration between Habitat BPM Ltd, contractors, Landcare Research and the Hawke’s Bay Regional Council.

Revegetation and Erosion Control in Central Hawke's Bay

This project involved planting and maintaining over 15,000 plants and controlling weeds on erosion prone land in Central Hawke's Bay. This work was contracted by Opus International and GDH Consulting on behalf of Central Hawke's Bay District Council. 

Hawke's Bay Regional Council Projects

Habitat BPM Ltd has been contracted by the Hawke's Bay Regional Council to manage a wide variety of different projects. These include:
 
         - A wide scale, multi-organisational goat control program in Hawke's Bay
         - Submissions to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
         - Community consultation projects
